Your thoughts go something like this:
I have a decent job as a physical therapist.
I don’t fight too often with my partner.
I have pretty good relationships with my family.
I even take a trip to the mountains every summer.
So, why do I feel sad when I wonder if this is all there is to life?
I shouldn’t feel this way, right?
You start to stuff the feelings and cover them up with other things – a glass of wine, Netflix, sleep. The feelings go away – for a little while.
There are LOTS of people who have it worse than you do. That’s what you tell yourself. But, man, are you tired.
One day you make a costly billing mistake at clinic; the office manager, who’s not so subtle, says you really should take some time off.
You tell your husband, who says you’ve seemed miserable for months since you don’t want to have sex and would rather thumb blindly on your phone. It turns into a huge fight. You defend yourself tooth and nail, and he spends the night on the couch.
What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just BE HAPPY?
This scenario is surprisingly common among the people I’ve helped in my practice.
- Do you feel unfulfilled professionally or personally?
- Is there a “stuck” quality to your life?
- Do you feel unheard in many of your relationships?
- Are there things you’d like to do, places you’d like to go, but you have no idea where to start?
- Do you sometimes wonder who YOU even are?
The first step to getting UNstuck is to give me a call for a free consultation.
We’ll discuss what’s going on in your life and what you want to be different, if you’ve been in treatment before, what you believe are obstacles to achieving your goals, and how I can help.
With being psychodynamically trained, I can look at your entire self – from your early life story through the impact that your upbringing has on your current functioning and relationships. It takes time, energy, and money to make a lasting change in your life. However, the rewards you gain will be so worth it.
